Things to Do in Desert Springs

Welcome to Almeria

In Almeria, there’s something for everyone. If you want to experience something alone, or together with friends or family outside Ambera Desert Springs, there are lots of things to do.

Here are some of our favourites:

Spa and Hammam bath

Due to the Moorish legacy in Almeria, there’s a lot of Spa treatments and Hammam baths everywhere. The Hammam bath is an unmissable treat where you can just soak your cares away. Relax and enjoy!

Cabo de Gata-Níjar

Cabo de Gata-Níjar is Andalucía’s largest protected coastal area. A wild and isolated landscape with some of Europe’s oldest geological features, it boasts large volcanic rock formations, craggy cliffs, and hidden coves with white, sandy beaches. Underwater there are extensive coral reefs, teeming with diverse marine life. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is a great place to experience and explore.

There is plenty to do in this area besides enjoying the beaches and walking – diving, snorkelling, kayaking, sailing, cycling, horseback riding, ATV rides and boat tours are all wildly popular.

Horseback Riding

There are many riding centres throughout Almeria, with ‘Club Hípico Vera’ located closest to Ambera Desert Springs. They offer classes and one-on-one lessons, as well as cross-country riding. The facilities provided are excellent, with ample parking for all types of vehicles, as well as changing rooms for guests.

Water Park – Vera

The Water Park in Vera is just 10 minutes away from Ambera Desert Springs – an oasis of fun for you and the whole family. Here you’ll find a day you can all enjoy, from swimming pools, slides, and wave machines to picnic areas, bars, and restaurants.

Sierra Nevada Ski Resort

Renowned for being a place where you can ski in the morning and sunbathe in the afternoon, the Sierra Nevada is Europe’s southernmost ski resort, about 30km from the city of Granada.

A visit to Sierra Nevada can be combined with a trip to Granada city and the famous Alhambra Palace. It is also a popular area for mountain biking, and the resort opens their cable cars and lifts in the summer months to allow some epic downhill cycling.
